Thanksgiving 2008
Thanksgiving 2008 saw the good the bad and the ugly. Let us start with the good. To hubby and my surprise we had both the kiddies for Thanksgiving this year. We thought it would be just the two of us. We had no big turkey dinner planned as we thought the son would be going to his fathers for dinner and the daughter was supposed to be working. It turned out that son was not going to his dads or that daughter was working. It surely made me happy knowing they would be both here at the same time.
Last minute dinner plan was pork chops on the BBQ, I baked a chocolate cake, and all of sat down to eat the thanksgiving meal together as a family. Poor darling daughter was so stuffed up with a cold she could barely taste the food.
When I asked her why she drove an hour to come and see me when she felt so sick was "mom i miss you and wanted to see you" Awwwwwwww just the words I wanted to hear. It is true when kids are sick all they want is their mom no matter what age they are.
Now comes the bad part of the day. An hour or so after dinner happy hubby heads to the downstairs bathroom to you know............well I guess the toilet and the pipes under the bathroom sink started to make a gurgling noise as hubby still sitting on the toilet seat starts to feel warm water on his butt. Toilet is overflowing like Niagara Falls. With a shout from the hubby he exits the bathroom as the sewage flows out of the bathroom and down the hall. Talk about a @#$%^& mess.
It turns out the septic tank was full to the brim. Usually it would not be a problem to find someone to come and pump out the septic tank. This was thanksgiving weekend though. Finally we found someone to come yesterday around 4pm. Until then we could not run water at all, not even flushing a toilet. You can imagine how relieved I was to see the septic tank truck pulling into our driveway. At this point I did not care how much it was going to cost to get this septic tank pumped dry. About an hour later the septic truck guy was done and the pipes in the house can run freely again.
So there you have it folks......the good, the bad and the ugly
